Learn all about the history of the Cable Car at the Cable Car Museum, located at the top of the Botanic Gardens.
Dress up in a historic costume and climb aboard the Relentless Red Rattler, named for the rattling noise it produced as it transported Wellingtonians from the 1950s to the late 1970s.
Wander downstairs to the winding machine room and you’ll see the impressive machinery that was used to haul the cable cars up the hill from 1902 until 1978.
