The award-winning Cable Car Museum brings to life the story of Wellington's iconic cable cars. Situated within the original Winding House, the Museum is home to two of the original grip cars and the historic winding machinery once used to haul the cars through a series of tunnels up the steep incline.
Open every day

The Cable Car Museum will be open an hour and a half late on Friday 19 December 2014. You'll be able to visit from 11am - 5pm. We apologise for any inconveniences this may cause.
How to find us - the Museum is beside a lookout with the best views of Wellington and at the top of the Botanical Gardens. Carter Observatory is only 2 minutes walk away and the cable car runs every 10 minutes between the Museum and Lambton Quay.
