Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho | Visual Arts at the Museum
Years 5–11
This programme uses artworks from the museum to explore the values of Te Ao Māori and the stories of Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Ākonga consider how art has changed over time and how it reflects culture and different perspectives. Through sketching and creating their own rock art, they explore how visual art can preserve and communicate knowledge, provoke thinking and inspire creative responses. The programme can be adapted to reflect current exhibitions and ākonga curiosity.
Duration: 90+ minutes
Cost: This visit is $7.50 per student (adults free).
