Te Ohonga x Memory Lines | Wellington Museum and City Gallery Wellington
Years 4+
18 March – 28 June 2024
This unforgettable programme begins with a visit to Te Waka Huia o Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho Wellington Museum. Ākonga engage with the knowledges of ringatoi Māori from the Wellington region, and the life and warmth of taonga in Te Ohonga: The Awakening exhibition. Afterwards, at City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi, ākonga explore the Memory Lines exhibition. A workshop follows for ākonga to consider whakapapa, taonga and value by making a sculptural memento using a range of precious materials.
This is a rich offering and a rare opportunity! We recommend that you extend your visit to a full day to get the most from the experience.
This programme is ideal for making curriculum connections among visual arts, Aotearoa New Zealand’s Histories, and te ao Māori.
Duration: 120 mins+
Cost: This visit is $7.50 per student (adults free).
