Te Ara Māwhitiwhiti | Star Path is a collaboration between Wellington Museum and Space Place. An immersive show, Ngā Tohunga Whakatere – The Navigators, takes ākonga on an unforgettable journey across Te Moana Nui a Kiwa. Ākonga explore Polynesian navigation, how the science of wayfinding is embedded in pūrākau, and how this knowledge holds significance in Aotearoa. The programme provides hands-on experience with star compasses, star patterns, and stick charts. Adaptable for different age groups, and suitable for local schools and those coming to Wellington for a capital city experience.
Planetarium show: Ngā Tohunga Whakatere – The Navigators
Duration: Full-day programme. 1 hour 30 mins at Wellington Museum, Cable Car trip, and 2 hours at Space Place. Programme can be done in reverse order.
Cost: This visit is $16.50 per student, including entry to both Space Place and Wellington Museum and a one-way trip on the Wellington Cable Car. Adults $10.00, one free adult for every eight students
