Mouri Tāngata, Mouri Ora | Matiu Somes sets ākonga up for independent exploration of Matiu Somes Island. The programme explores the significance of Matiu Somes to mana whenua, experiences of loss and return, and the diverse histories of the motu. Afterwards, they sail to Matiu Somes by ferry to find connections to these stories and histories. Adaptable for different age groups, and suitable for local schools and those coming to Wellington for a capital city experience. 

Duration: Approx. 1 hour – 1 hour 30 minutes at Wellington Museum. Fee includes a return ferry trip to Matiu Somes Island. Matiu Somes Island is approx. 3 hours and self-guided. 

This visit is ​$11.50 ​per student and ​$7.50​ per adult. Includes ferry trip to Matiu Island (return)*.
