Get a little twang in your life. Troubadour Barry Saunders (The Warratahs) and Caroline Easther bring their high-lonesome sound to the top of the Cable Car for an intimate show with Amerikiwiana troupe the Kelburn Viaduct Municipal Ensemble Jug Band breaking out the washboard and tea-chest bass.

Celebrate the 115th Anniversary of Wellington’s beloved Cable Car at Cable Car Hoopla!

Take a wild ride up a decorated Cable Car, then join the party at the top of the tracks with live music, food & drink. Acts include The Nudge, Disasteradio and DJs Oonaverse, Mos locos & Eclectica.
Presented by the Cable Car Museum in collaboration with Wellington Cable Car & Wellington Botanic Garden.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your allocated ticket time as the Cable Car will depart on time. The rain date is Saturday the 4th November, participants must be available for both dates.

Participants will be notified by email after 1pm on Friday the 3rd if the event will be postponed. Updates will also be posted on the Museums Wellington website and on the Facebook event.

Take the Wellington Cable Car 101: Seniors Week special at the Cable Car Museum.

Come along and be guided through the Cable Car Museum by members of the curatorial team and Cable Car Engineer Gavin Macintyre who can answer all of those tricky technical questions. The cable car has been an iconic wellington transport system for 115 years, and the museum contains its fascinating history along with the history of early Wellington. We’ll finish with a cup of tea and hear your stories about this Wellington treasure.
