Stargazing 101

Wellington as a capital city has a remarkably low level of light pollution meaning we can see plenty (but not too much) in our night skies. We would like to become the capital city which knows its skies. This five week course supports participants to learn and understand the night sky they are seeing, and get basic orientation skills. No experience necessary. Sessions stand alone. Suitable for age 12 and up.

Telescope 101

Tired of tripping over your telescope? Don’t toss it, double down and really learn how to use it. This course is suitable for beginners and novices, teaching the finer details of how to use and maintain a telescope so it can finally bring you joy.

Apollo 11, 50th Anniversary – Panel Discussion

A wide-ranging discussion about the space race focusing on the impact and significance of the Moon Landing, as well as the opportunity to share our stories of where we were during the historic moment “the Eagle had landed!”

Up Close and Personal with a Lunar Eclipse

Join us for a light breakfast and observe the eclipse – if we can’t see it live we’ll watch footage in the planetarium. Our resident expert will be on hand to talk through what is happening and why.
