Astronomy on Tap: Moons of the Solar System

With two exceptions, planets in our solar system have moons, and several have turned out to be worlds of their own. Astronomer Galileo Galilei first understood distant moons in 1610. Since then, we’ve landed on Earth’s and sent probes to another with an eye toward visiting more in the future. Come discover these distant worlds with us.

Astronomy on Tap: Polynesian Navigation

Astronomy on Tap: Polynesian Navigation

Today, GPS instruments take people safe to their destinations, but in a not so distant past navigators from the Pacific Islands used the stars. Today we still learn from their journeys.  Navigating by the stars through the seas, how did these early navigators do it? How can this inform the way we look at the world today?
