Cable Car Block by artist Alfred Memelink
this is a beautiful watercolour collage of the Wellington Cable Car. This lovely Cable Car block print is a uniquely artistic take on this iconic view from the lookout above the city. This Alfred Memelink pint is the perfect souvenir of your visit to Wellington. Even ideal for those who are homesick for this spectacular view.
Alfred, who is based in Petone in Wellinton, is becoming particularly well known for his streetscape and seascape paintings. Especially of the Wellington region. He is largely a self taught artist, having taught himself whilst working at sea as a marine engineer. As a subtle symbol of his connection with the sea, one will always find a seagull somewhere in every painting.
Alfred’s ability of conveying to the viewer his excitement found in the scenes portrayed, is resulting in a strong local following and is also winning him international recognition. The art has interesting perspectives with tangible moods and an expressive use of colour. Alfred is at one with the watercolour medium in particular but he also enjoys pushing the boundaries of art in other areas. This Cable Car block print is in Alfred’s unique collage style.
This watercolour collage is mounted on a 20x15cm block of wood so you can hang it on the wall or sit upright on a table without the need for framing.
This product is also available for purchase in store at the Wellington Museum and the Cable Car Museum.
