Gripmen Rules Notepad
The Gripmen Rules notepad makes the perfect souvenir for anyone who has enjoyed a ride up the hillside of Wellington on the beloved ‘red rattler’. Relive the strange rules of the cable cars past.
In 1934 a rule book was issued to all gripmen responsible for operating the grip cars that climbed the hills to Kelburn. The book was to be kept on their person at all times, and provided instructions for every aspect of their job, from dealing with a breakdown to coping with passengers. Many of the rules can sound ridiculous to a modern mind. A copy of this rule book is a part of the Museums Wellington collection, and you can now purchase your own faithful recreation of a page.
This Gripmen Rules notepad this notepad offers complete versatility with unlined paper and 100 easy tear out pages. Write down your shopping list, take down important meeting notes or mindlessly doodle the day away.
Exclusive to Museums Wellington, this notepad is part of our custom Gripmen range aimed at celebrating the history of Wellington’s Cable Car.
This product is also available for purchase in store at the Cable Car Museum.
